Pastoral Care

Well-Being

We place great importance on pastoral care at NHP, ensuring that the well-being of our students is a top priority. Our comprehensive well-being programme is meticulously designed to incorporate pastoral activities into the school day, safeguarding the children’s mental health and fostering a supportive school environment. This programme aims to help pupils understand themselves and their emotions, capitalize on their unique talents, maintain their health, make sense of the society in which they live, and become valuable and valued members of their community. We believe that every child has the right to come to school each day feeling safe, happy, and ready to learn.

To support this mission, we have a dedicated well-being team that includes an in-house school counsellor. This team employs a variety of strategies to promote mental health and well-being among our students. Techniques such as mindfulness practices, drop-in counselling sessions, self-care routines, and mood journaling are integral parts of our approach. These tools help students develop resilience, manage stress, and build a strong foundation for emotional well-being.

One of our key resources is the “NHP Hare that Cares Self-Care Journal,” which serves as a practical guide for students to engage in self-reflection and self-care activities. This journal encourages children to take an active role in their mental health by tracking their moods, setting personal goals, and practicing gratitude and mindfulness. By providing these resources and support systems, we ensure that our students are equipped to navigate the complexities of their emotions and daily lives, contributing to their overall happiness and success.
